Guys, I know we're late, but can we still get in to see Lenin? Nyet?

St. Basil's Cathedral was built to commemorate Ivan the Terrible's defeat of the Tatar city of Kazan. Inside is room after room of art.

This is the view north from inside the Cathedral.

Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Built in 1860, it is the largest Orthodox church ever built. It was demolished under Stalin to build a big Lenin statue, but that project ran into a funding problem. Then Krushchev turned the foundation hole into a big swimming pool. It was rebuilt in the '90s by tenacious Russians who wanted it back and was completed in August 2000.

For American tourists, I guess.

Moscow State University.

The Novodevichy Convent was founded in 1524 to commemorate the recapture of the Russian town of Smolensk from the Lithuanians. Peter the Great sent his first wife here, behind the fortress walls, so that he could re-marry.

Dinner with friends at Cafe Pushkin. They handled all menu choices.

Good friends, good times.

The next day, before a tour of the Kremlin Armory.

Nice fountains on the north side of the Kremlin.
