I couldn't have imagined being inside the Kremlin walls while I was in elementary school, where we held bomb drills in the hall. This is the Tsar Canon. Cast in 1586, it is the largest caliber in the world. 

 

That is one big cannon. And those are...  well anyway that is one big cannon.

 

At 223 tons, the Tsar Bell is the largest bell in the world. Made of bronze, the bell was broken during final casting and has never been rung. In 1737, a fire broke out at the Kremlin. Guards threw cold water on the bell, causing this 12-ton slab to crack off. D'oh!

 

On our last night we crossed the bridge south of Red Square.
